I’m Helen Samson Mullen

You are in a club you never asked to belong to. But, life does not end with a diagnosis, I promise.

Hello, I’m Helen. It’s lovely to meet you.

I am passionate about supporting clients with an autoimmune diagnosis or living with a chronic condition to meet themselves where they are with compassion and care. I help them align with their blend of unique genius, enhance their self-awareness and emotional agility, and hone their intentions so they may lead their own adventure through opportunity and/or challenge with grace, courage, and resilience.

I’m a mother, wife, sister, daughter, friend, and certified professional coach.

I have had a lifelong keen interest in wholehearted well-being and wellness. I have trodden a windy road in my career around this central passion, from bandaging my sisters within an inch of their lives as a little girl to being an avid learner of well-being research and practice. This path has taken me through academia, medical, and clinical research to coaching and consulting. I am honored to be a Senior Executive Coach for pLink Leadership and to be the co-founder of The Autoimmune Campfire with Nona Jordan.

As an executive coach, I earned a Professional Certified Coach designation from the International Coaching Federation and subsequently became a Certified Mentor Coach. I am a Certified Leadership Circle Profile™ 360 and the Leadership Circle System practitioner.

I am passionate about supporting you with my coaching experience and autoimmune background.

Diagnosed with moderate to severe Rheumatoid Arthritis at the end of 2018, it has been a journey back to wellness, with many challenging twists and turns, as is not unusual with autoimmune conditions. I have learned a lot along the way about how to work with and heal my body through the lens of nutrition, movement, mindfulness, and other lifestyle modifications in addition to complementary, functional, and conventional medicine.

As a recovering academic and clinical project leader, I have spent many ‘successful’ years in my brain, and this autoimmune experience has certainly got me back in my body. Ironically, I have a degree in physiological sciences, a PhD and post-doc in gastrointestinal research, and years of experience in medical and clinical research. This autoimmune experience has landed me squarely in the fullness of my own physiology, which has been rich in invitations to accept, learn, grow, and heal in a body-centered, integrated, and holistic way.

I’m a coach first, meeting each client where they are in service of their agenda.

As a well-being strategist, it is my honor, where appropriate, to pay forward the wisdom and perspective from some of my hard-won lessons along the way or from evidence-based practices in service of growth, healing and wellness.

Born and raised in the NE of England, I now live in Wilmington, Delaware, with my husband and puppy. We enjoy both the open nest and when our two adult children are home.

I welcome connecting on LinkedIn.
